Comments: Unfortunately clouds prevented detailed study with 11x80 B and inner coma.
Tail spectacular, the PA 330 extension was the longest, brightest and straightest,
but it was wider closer to the coma. With 0.45-m L @286x the inner coma showed much
detail, such as a bow-shock, shadow of inner coma and cc cast on the outer coma, a
thin jet to the S and a wider fan-shaped jet to the N. The impression of this part
of the comet is that of a tormented, twisted and turbulent domain. Moonlight
interfered. Reference stars Zeta and Gamma Aql. Site: Sandvreten Astronomical
Observatory of Uppsala AmatörAstronomer, 30 km W of Uppsala, Sweden.

Comments: Comet just 5 degrees above ENE horizon but transparent sky (ZLM +6.7) made
it a spectacular sight. The longest part of the tail in PA 320 was very straight, slim
and faint (plasma component). The near-coma fan (dust component) stretched in PA
270-320, with a length of 2 deg to the W. The tint of the coma was not as yellow as
previously, rather the general hue was bluish-white, with a slightly yellowish CC.
In 11x80 B there was some intensity structure in the coma; the sunward side was
slightly lighter at some distance from the CC and had a "bow-shock" appearance. The CC
was elongated in a 2:1 ratio in approx. PA 140, roughly perpendicular to the plasma
tail direction. Reference stars Beta and Epsilon Cyg. Site: Sandvreten Astronomical
Observatory of Uppsala AmatörAstronomer, 30 km W of Uppsala, Sweden.
